KALAHANDI UTTSAV(GHUMURA)
KALAHANDI UTSAV is a platform to encourage, motivate and show case the art, culture, music, drama, literature, handy crafts and to place the strength globally. The Utsav starts from the first day of Makar Shrankanti and continues for four days at district head quarter Bhawanipatna and Sub-division Dharamgarh simultaniously. Artists from kalahandi as well as across India are encouraged to participate in this Kalahandi Utsav.
Kalahandi Utsav was initiated by Mr. P.K. Jena, esteemed Ex-collector of Kalahandi in the year 1996. Then it was organized at sub-division level at Dharamgarh by ex-sub- collector Mr. V. Karthikeya Pandian in 2003.
GHUMURA
Ghumura: A cultural identity of Kalahandi with the rhythmic beat brings a sensation to audience and excite every one to dance irrespective of caste, creed, belief among young and old. It brings unity and integrity in diversity and spreads the message of oneness.
Ghumura is used in many occasions. The evolution goes back to the ancient time where it was used to energize and excite the warriors in the battle. So, it is also known as war beat (Juddha- baddya). it’s popularity and importance has made it a synonym to Kalahandi.
BANABADI
Banabadi: A dance by Goud (Jadav community) in Kalahandi. It is also known as Gaurbadi dance.This dance is perfirmed during the pousa purnima.This dance is performed with sticks(badi) in hand.This is one of the oldest folk dance of kalahandi along with the gumura.PARADESWAR TEMPLE(DHARAMGARH)
This temple is situated in Dharamgarg of kalahandi district (orissa).The lingam is of mercury which is very unique.If any one comes Kalahandi must visit the temple.This place gives a unique piece to mind.A pure spiritual surrounding one can have within the temple campus.
FURALIJHARAN
Furalijharan is a beauty of nature.A water fall having a great sight which is attracting the tourist for along time.It is situated near Bhawanipatna ,the headquarter of kalahandi.Jakam is also a attraction for the tourist just near the furalijharan.
